OKLAHOMA CITY — The Oklahoma City Thunder announced Russell Westbrook underwent surgery to address a broken cheek bone on Saturday, February 28.

The break occurred in the zygomatic arch in his cheek after Andre Roberson accidentally hit his knee into Westbrook’s face late in the loss at Portland on Friday, February 27.

Westbrook will miss the Laker game in Los Angeles on Sunday, March 1.

He will be reevaluated later this week.

The All-Star guard had the surgery performed at the Osborne Head and Neck Institute in Los Angeles.

Westbrook is coming off a record-setting stretch of play, recording three straight triple doubles and averaging 31.2 points, 9.1 rebounds and 10.3 assists per game in the month of February.
