“We’re not going home! We’re not going home!” The words Golden State Warrior, Stephen Curry, shouted to home crowds following his team’s 120-111 victory over the Oklahoma City Thunder in game five of the Western Conference Finals.
The NBA’s Most Valuable Player is right, the Warriors won’t be going home just yet. Curry and company were teetering on the brink of extinction heading into Thursday night. After a frenetic 48 minutes of basketball and behind 31 points from the MVP, Golden State will live to see another game.
OKC maintains its edge in the series, leading 3-2 and now the Western Conference Finals will return to Chesapeake Arena for a game six.
Kevin Durant led the Thunder with 40 points going 12-31 from the field. Russell Westbrook added 31 points with 8 assists, 7 rebounds and 5 steals.
Curry’s fellow Splash Brother, Klay Thompson contributed 27 points but it was center Andrew Bogut who came up big for Golden State. Bogut had 15 points and 14 rebounds, creating a physical threat to the Thunder in the paint.
Game six will tip at 8 PM on Saturday night, and if there is a game seven, the series will finish in Oakland on Monday night.
