With the NBA season winding down, the Thunder have just four games remaining, league-wide awards will be handed out in the near future.
Kevin Durant is in the running and thought by some to be the front-runner for the league’s most valuable player, while Serge Ibaka is in the mix for the NBA defensive player of the year.
Durant has earned first team All-NBA four straight years and led the league in scoring in all four of those seasons, but he has yet to win a MVP award.
KD has finished in second place to LeBron James the past two seasons.
Listen above as Kendrick Perkins explains why he thinks Durant will win the award.
Serge Ibaka has made a name for himself on the defensive end of the floor in recent years, but like Durant he has fallen just short of taking home the league’s top honor for his defensive play.
Ibaka has led the NBA in blocks the last four years, but finished in third for NBA defensive player of the year in 2011 and came in second last season.
Watch above as Durant makes a case for why Ibaka should be the league’s defensive player of the year for his play this season.
