Ibaka out, Thunder remains confident and “ready to go”

On Friday, May 16, the Oklahoma City Thunder announced starting forward Serge Ibaka would miss the rest of the team’s playoff run due to a calf strain.

Ibaka suffered the injury in the Thunder’s series-clinching, game six win over the Los Angeles Clippers on Thursday, May 15.

“Air Congo” has been the model of consistency for the Thunder since becoming a starter.

Over the last three seasons, the fifth-year forward has missed just three games in 373 Thunder games.

The two-time NBA all-defensive team member has played in over 99 percent of Oklahoma City’s games since the 2010 season, starting in 332 of those games.

Thunder head coach Scott Brooks would not notify the media who will start in place of Serge or who he plans to play to fill in his role.
