The Oklahoma City Thunder find themselves in familiar territory as they head to San Antonio for game five of the NBA’s western conference finals against the Spurs.
The Thunder will play in their fifth game five when a playoff series is tied 2-2, and the third of this postseason.
Oklahoma City is 3-2 all-time in game fives when the series is tied 2-2 and have gone on to win the series four out of the five times.
OKC and the Spurs also entered their game five of the 2012 western conference finals with the series tied at two games a piece.
The Thunder won four straight games and that 2012 series after the Spurs beat them in games one and two in the Alamo City.
Like the 2012 western conference finals, the Thunder have tied up the series at two games a piece after winning two straight at home inside The Peake.
The Spurs are 8-1 at home this postseason.
“We know we can’t go in there and play like we did before, which was too cool, ” NBA MVP and Thunder forward Kevin Durant added, “playing too cool gets you beat every time.”
