Rod Richardson spent the last 10 years as an assistant football coach at Putnam City North High School, and now gets his chance to run the Panthers’ program in 2014.
After 22 years as head coach of PC North, Bob Wilson retired during the offseason and Richardson was promoted as Wilson’s replacement.
Wilson left some big shoes to fill, going 150-96 and making 15 playoff trips during his time at Putnam City North.
Richardson says he’s very familiar with the program and his players after his decade as an assistant.
The Panthers new head coach has experience with some of the school’s best, helping coach NFL alums Sam Bradford and Deji Karim.
Karim is currently helping coach Richardson’s running backs.
PC North comes off a 4-6 season in 2013 and makes the jump to the top tier of Class 6A in Oklahoma high school football for the 2014 season.
The Panthers will now have Union, Owasso, Norman North, Edmond North, Southmoore, Mustang and Moore High School in their district.
