MIAMI, Fla. – Just before kickoff in the Orange Bowl, Sooner fans learned some bad news.

On Thursday, it was announced that defensive tackle Charles Walker will not play in the game after suffering a concussion during practice earlier in the week.

Walker, a second team All-Big 12 player, has recorded 25 unassisted tackles and 11 assisted tackles this season.

He’s played in every game this season and recorded three tackles against Oklahoma State.

The redshirt sophomore will likely be ready for the national championship game, if the Sooners are able to defeat Clemson on Thursday afternoon.

In Walker’s place, Matt Dimon will get the start.

Dimon recorded 16 unassisted tackles and 16 assisted tackles this season.

Kickoff is set for 4 p.m. (ET) at Sun Life Stadium.
