The Los Angeles Clippers used a double-digit comeback to take game four of the western conference playoff series against the Oklahoma City Thunder before Scott Brooks’ squad returned the favor with a double-digit comeback win of their own during game five to take a 3-2 series lead over the Clippers.
The Thunder trailed by as many as 13 with under four minutes remaining in the game before closing on a 17-3 point run to win game five 105-104.
It was quite the turn around from game four, when Oklahoma City gave up a 16 point fourth quarter lead to LA in a 101-99 Clippers win.
Russell Westbrook scored 38 points in the win, his third highest career playoff total, and provided a spark to OKC’s offense when Kevin Durant shot just 3-for-17 from the field through three-quarters.
The NBA’s most valuable player did come alive in the fourth quarter, scoring ten of his 27 points in the last four minutes of the game.
Game six will tip at 9:30 p.m. CT on Thursday, May 15, from the Staples Center in LA.
