Oklahoma State rallied from an early 3-0 deficit to beat Oklahoma 9-6 in the first of the three-game Bedlam baseball series on Friday night at ONEOK Field in Tulsa.

The Sooners scored three runs in the first inning to take an early 3-0 lead, but the Cowboys answered with two runs in the top of the second inning, as Conor Costello scored on a throwing error to third base, and Bryan Case singled in Tim Arakawa to make it 3-2.

OSU got three more runs in the 5th inning to take the lead for good, as Costello singled in Donnie Walton, then a throwing error by OU shortstop Sheldon Neuse allowed two Cowboys to score to make it 5-3.

The Cowboys got three more in the 6th inning.

Donnie  Walton drove home a run on a sacrifice fly, Dustin Williams doubled in Gage Green, and Corey Hassel scored on a wild pitch.

Ryan Sluder added a solo home run in the 7th inning to make it 9-3 Cowboys.

Oklahoma rallied, though, with Neuse doubling in two runs in the 8th inning to make it 9-5 OSU.

The Sooners weren’t done yet, as Kolbey Carpenter grounded out to score a run to make it 9-6 Cowboys.

With two runners on, OU had a chance to tie the game still, but Carpenter was forced out at second on a fielder’s choice grounder by Anthony Hermelyn and the Cowboys had won it 9-6.

OSU improves to 30-14, 13-6 in the Big 12, while OU falls to 29-20, 10-6 in Big 12 play.

The Bedlam series resumes Saturday night at 7:00 at the Bricktown Ballpark, and Sunday at 4:00 at the Brick.
