OKLAHOMA CITY – The trial of Daniel Holtzclaw will stick in the minds of many for some time.
Holtzclaw, a former Oklahoma City Police officer, was found guilty on 18 sexual assault charges back in December.
He is accused of assaulting 13 women while on duty.
Holtzclaw broke down in tears as the jury recommended he be sentenced to 263 years in prison.
On Thursday, a judge agreed with the jury’s recommendation, sentencing an emotionless Holtzclaw to serve 263 consecutive years in prison.
Holtzclaw will be moved by the Department of Corrections to a new facility on Monday.
His defense team plans to appeal the decision.
Although a video camera was not allowed inside the courtroom during Holtzclaw’s sentencing, a photographer was permitted to take photographs.
