YUKON, Okla. – Authorities say a Canadian County man is behind bars after deputies say he allegedly attacked his wife and young daughter.
On Friday, deputies were supposed to serve an eviction notice at a home.
Officers say 32-year-old Bradley Scroggins voluntarily left the home and did not tell them about his wife and daughter, who were still inside.
Deputies asked the child, “Would you like to leave with daddy?”
The child repeatedly said, “No.”
Sheriff Randall Edwards, with the Canadian County Sheriff’s Office, said, “The fact that the child was so adamant about not leaving with her father caused my deputy serious concern to the point he believed a crime had been committed. My deputy immediately caught up with Scroggins and placed him in investigative detention.”
Investigators say they learned about a long history of domestic violence and child abuse in the home.
They say they learned Scroggins also smoked marijuana in the presence of his children on a regular basis.
On March 12, officials learned Scroggins allegedly hit his wife in the head with a bar stool.
When the couple’s daughter ran to her, Scroggins allegedly picked her up by the throat while she was crying.
Edwards said, “I will do everything within my power to protect these innocent lives from the monsters who would do them harm.”
Scroggins is facing multiple charges associated with domestic violence and child abuse.
