“You’ve shown us strength,” Oklahoma State creates touching video after homecoming tragedy

STILLWATER, Okla. – As Oklahoma State University continues to heal from a tragedy that occurred during its homecoming parade last month, university leaders are thanking the community for its support.

“You celebrated with us. You marched to honor us. Then you rushed to our aid, and we thank you. You treated wounds. You started the healing process for all of us. You are professionals, the best of the best, and we can’t thank you enough. For those of you who have prayed with us and for us, we thank you. To all of the universities who have held us in our hearts, we may compete on the field, but off the field, we are brothers  and sisters united together. We love you and we thank you.

These days are dark, but let the bright orange sunset on that fateful night remind us all that there are better days ahead. You’ve shown us strength. You’ve given us strength and hope. Thank you.”

On Tuesday night, a memorial service was held at Gallagher-Iba Arena to remember the lives that were taken and the ones that were saved following the homecoming parade.

On Oct. 24, a car drove past a barricade and into a crowd of onlookers during the Oklahoma State homecoming parade.

In all, authorities say four people were killed and 46 others were injured in the crash.

Officials say 2-year-old Nash Lucas, 23-year-old Nikita Nakal, 65-year-old Dr. Marvin Stone and 65-year-old Bonnie Stone were all killed in the crash.
