Update: 6:00 p.m.

OKLAHOMA CITY – A woman was shot to death in northwest Oklahoma City Saturday morning.

Police were called to Briarwood Estates early this morning where they found a woman lying in the front yard of an unoccupied home with gunshot wounds.

The woman, who was identified as 37-year-old Carrie Ezell, later died at a local hospital.

Police say they believe the alleged shooter is 26-year-old Charles Chambers.

Witnesses say the shooter drove off in the victim’s white Lexus.

They say crime has been moving into the neighborhood and they want to take action.

“A lot of the neighbors have decided we want to do something about it. We want to keep our neighborhood safe.” said Vicki Burke, a Briarwood Estates resident.

A few hours after the shooting, police say they located Chambers in southwest Oklahoma City.

He is now in police custody.
