AUSTIN, Texas — WGN America presented a “witches playground” at SXSW’s Film Opening Party this weekend. It celebrated the innovative festival and the upcoming season two of the national cable network’s provocative, supernatural thriller, Salem.

The Salem at SXSW celebration was complete with soothsayers, levitating enchantresses, apothecaries and Salem stars.

Salem is a one-hour drama that re-imagines the infamous 17th century witch trials in colonial Massachusetts.

Salem stars Janet Montgomery (“Made in Jersey,” “Human Target”), Shane West (“Nikita,” “ER”) and Lucy Lawless (“Xena: Warrior Princess,” “Spartacus”) were be on hand at the “Salem” at SXSW celebration.
