“We may never have some of those answers now,” body of suspected killer identified

Blake Scruggs

CANTON, Okla.– The medical examiner’s office has identified the body of a man wanted for murder.

State agents have been looking for Christopher Scruggs for months.

In June, a farmer found remains on his property in Blaine county that have now been confirmed to be that of Scruggs.

He’s accused of fatally shooting 18-year-old Caylee Massey last fall near Canton.

Caylee Massey’s family is worried they will never get justice in her death.

“We won’t have closure until they can tell us who did it, why they did it and they are punished,” Courtney Massey said.

Caylee Massey was only 18.

Her mother was too emotional to speak on camera Thursday, but told us she was devastated to hear Christopher Scruggs will not be tried in court her daughter’s death.

“We have full confidence that he was a part of that murder, now we have to find out, were there other people part of that murder?” OSBI spokesperson Jessica Brown said.

We now know there were two other people inside the truck with Massey and Scruggs.

Court records show the driver told investigators he smoked meth with Massey and Scruggs before leaving for Canton together.

Another woman also told investigators she was in the truck and saw Scruggs shoot Caylee.

“We may never have some of those answers now, and that is a problem for us, but there are other people have spoken to, and so we’re hoping to answer some of those questions through other means,” Brown said.

A motive has never been revealed in Caylee’s murder.

Scruggs had a violent history, accused of nearly beating a man to death in Logan County just before the crime in Canton.

The others in the car had rap sheets too for assault and drug charges.

Anyone with information on Scruggs’ death should call the OSBI.

The medical examiner is now working to determine the manner and cause of his death.
