STILLWATER, Okla. – Connor Greco was trying to record memories at the Oklahoma State Homecoming parade. She wasn’t expecting to catch the horror that ensued.
“It’s my first time at the parade,” Connor said.
The Frisco, Texas teen said hundreds of people lined the end of the parade route when they heard an unexpected sound that turned out to be a car plowing through the crowd.
“It sounded like an explosion,” Connor said.
The video is too graphic to show beyond a certain point – the same moment Connor said it all became a blur.
“I don’t remember seeing people laying in the middle of the street lifeless pretty much,” Connor said.
Connor’s mom, Christi Greco, said her first reaction was to help.
“Then, my daughter yelled to me, ‘Mom, we’ve got to go,'” Christi said. “Because, we thought, ‘What if this isn’t an isolated incident?'”
Adacia Chambers, 25, walked away from the crash in handcuffs.
She was charged in connection with the deaths of 2-year-old Nash Lucas, 23-year-old Nikita Nakal, and 65-year-old Marvin and Bonnie Stone.
“It’s still a little difficult,” Connor said.
She said she didn’t realize how serious the whole situation was until she saw news reports later that day.
Connor said talking about what she saw is helping her cope.
“Because, I didn’t know anybody personally that got hurt, so it kind of still doesn’t seem real but, obviously, it is,” she said.
The pictures Connor snapped before Saturday’s wreck were the way she wanted to look back on her visit to Stillwater.
Now, that day will be remembered for a different reason.
