Three accused of kidnapping and extorting couple in Pottawatomie County

SHAWNEE, Okla. — Three people are in jail accused of kidnapping and extorting a couple in Shawnee over the weekend.

Investigators say the hostage situation lasted from Saturday night until nearly daybreak Sunday morning.

The Pottawatomie County Sheriff’s Office said the crime happened at 15 Angie Lane.

It is a home they are all too familiar with.

In September 2015, it was a the scene of a murder.

Then, a few days later a standoff took place there.

For the most recent crime, Jacqueline Quinter, 42,  Ryan Spencer-Soderholm, 29,  and Andrew Williams, 29, were arrested.

Pottawatomie County Undersheriff J.T. Palmer said people will do extreme things if they think somebody owes them money.

“This is a little more extreme than normal.”

According to an affidavit, the couple was “taken into a shop on the property at gunpoint.”

“They are friends with all the suspects,” Palmer said. “During the investigation, we found it was an actual conspiracy to get them out there to torture him until he came up with the $400 that he owed Jackie.”

Deputies said the man was forced to stay in the shop while they took his girlfriend in the home.

“They actually made her strip. She refused to strip and that’s when Jackie Quinter actually started taking her clothes off,” Palmer said.

She told deputies they would “move her from room to room.”

“Wouldn’t let her go to the bathroom by herself,” Palmer said.

In the shop, her boyfriend said he faced threats of torture.

“Held a gun to his head. They had a hammer, ax, hatchets, breach,” Palmer said.

Quinter and Williams allegedly talked about “breaking his hands” and “cutting off his fingers” and even “threatened to burn him”.

Deputies said the victim agreed to go to the city to get them money.

“They made a stop and he actually told that person and that person is actually the one that called us,” Palmer said.

Palmer said thanks to that call they were able to save the couple.

The sheriff’s office said drugs were found in the house and a child was home at the time sleeping.
