BRIDGE CREEK, Okla. – It’s an old saying that many people have become familiar with over the years.

Lightning doesn’t strike twice but tornadoes don’t hold anything sacred.

Ridgecrest Baptist Church in Bridge Creek was leveled on May 3, 1999.

On Wednesday night, the house of worship was hit again.

The children’s ministry, a storage building and the church’s kitchen were all damaged.

On Thursday, volunteers joined together to tackle the monumental task of cleaning up the debris.

“There’s people here that I don’t even know,” said David Rivers, with Ridgecrest Baptist Church. “There’s a gentleman down there I met, Warren is his name, that’re cutting up our trees.  And walked down there and said, ‘How you doin’ sir?’ and introduced myself. He just said, ‘Knew you guys needed help.’ Lives up off of Memorial, I mean, doesn’t even live in the community. And he drives all the way down here and just starts cutting up trees because that’s something he does, something he can do to help out.”

Warren, who is in his 70s, says he didn’t finish up today, but told church officials that he will be back tomorrow to complete the job.
