HENNESSEY, Okla. – Students will have a safe place to go during storm season after a local school board decided to approve above-ground safe rooms.
The Hennessey School Board voted unanimously to approve a safe room plan that would hold 500 students and staff from kindergarten through the fifth grade.
The shelters will cost $335,000 and include a large hallway and two classrooms in the new elementary early childhood center.
Construction on the center is expected to be complete by January of 2015.
