EDMOND, Okla. — A chiropractor from Edmond became the world’s first successful double hand transplant in 2010.

In May 2011 Dr. Rich and Cindy Edwards allowed NewsChannel 4’s Ali Meyer and photojournalist Joe Busch tell their story.

For Dr. and Cindy Edwards it has been a long journey that began with losing the use of both of his hands after a fire, and continues with intense physical therapy.

There have been several double hand transplant surgeries performed throughout the United States.

So far, Dr. Edwards has been the most successful.

Another Man’s Hands is nominated for a 2012 Heartland Emmy Award.
