OKLAHOMA – The wintry conditions over the weekend proved tragic for two different Oklahoma families.
Just after 11:00 p.m. Saturday night, Rod Carroll, 61, was struck and killed by a vehicle on the HE Bailey Turnpike in Grady County.
Carroll, a pastor at Ninnekah Church of Christ and a respected counselor in the Chickasha area, had stopped to ask a person who’d been involved in a wreck if they needed any help.
He was hit and killed by an oncoming car that slid out of control.
His family released this statement.
“We’ve lost one of the best Christian men that we know today. He left this world doing what he did best, helping others. We believe that he truly was an Angel on this earth. Seeing all of the posts and comments and out pouring of love from all of the people his life touched is very moving and humbling. It’s amazing how one person can touch a life and it grows into a chain reaction and this world becomes a better place because they were in it. All prayers are appreciated at this time and we know that this is not goodbye, but see you later. ”
And over in Canadian County, another accident involved a car full of teenagers.
The driver of the vehicle, Jesse Gorbet, 16, died after colliding with another car at an intersection.
About 200 people showed up at the First Christian Church of El Reno for a prayer vigil for the teens and families involved.
