SHAWNEE, Okla. – Police in Shawnee are searching for a man believed to be armed and dangerous.

Jerod Parsons is accused of shooting at officers.

“The individual hasn’t been arrested,” said Sergeant Dan Shumaker with Shawnee police. “That’s why you see us going to different places in town.”

In Shawnee, the search continues for Parsons.

“We got calls he was supposed to be at this address in the neighborhood,” said Vivian Lazano with Shawnee police.

Shawnee police and the SWAT team filled the street in hopes of finding the suspect.

Neighbors tell us they aren’t shocked to see police in the area, but it’s still unnerving.

Police said the search started just after 1 a.m., a call came in accusing Parsons of making threats.

“Had called and said he was going to come and shoot his house,” Shumaker said.

While an officer was at the home, Parsons was spotted.

“He drove toward the officer, like trying to run him over,” Lazano said.

A chase started with Parsons refusing to stop.

Officers said Parsons shot at deputies, hitting a deputy’s vehicle several times.

Police had a report Parsons was spotted at a home on Hobson, but a search of the home ended without any sign of the suspect.

Police are not giving up.
