Black Friday insiders share their secrets on getting the best deal

OKLAHOMA CITY – Hot deals, deep discounts and special buys are among the words used to entice you to buy big, but is Black Friday still the best time to get those killer prices?

“Black Friday has really progressed and changed over the past couple of years. I’m finding Black Friday deals are starting earlier and earlier and you can get them online,” said Melissa Garcia, blogger at Consumer Queen.

Kohl’s has KitchenAid hand mixers right now for $89.99, the Lego movie is on sale for $4 and a 32-inch Samsung LED television is selling for less than $250.

“It’s easier to get things this year I think, no having to wait in line at 3 a.m. in the cold, shivering” Garcia said.

However, Garcia says some of those hot ticket items can be hard to come by even online.

“They can go in less than 30 seconds because people are adding things to their cart before and then trying to check out,” Garcia said.

Garcia said you might find a surprise by saving items to your cart.

“If there’s something you want and it’s a little out of your price range, put it in your cart and see if the prices become lower,” Garcia said.

If holiday tradition is to make the trek to the stores, FatWallet reports JCPenney is where you’ll find the best Black Friday prices.

In fact, studies say JCPenney shoppers will find prices slashed by about 65 percent.

Company officials say the massive drop in prices will only be found at a national retailer.

Also, Walmart and Amazon started price-matching this year if you can show proof of a lower advertised price.
