DEL CITY, Okla. (KFOR) – Del City police have apprehended two young suspects who were caught on camera assaulting a woman as she carried her elderly mother’s grocery into her home.

“We just got back from getting groceries. She had backed up where we could unload them,” a 91-year-old Del City woman told News 4.

She was still too shaken to talk on camera after a grocery trip turned violent once she and her 68-year-old daughter got home Wednesday morning.

“Then the one man said, ‘I’d like to help you,’ and she said, ‘No, thank you. She said I can handle it,’” she told News 4.

She’s talking about two teens captured on her neighbor’s surveillance cameras.

“The one young man knocked her down to the ground on her hip and side,” she said. “As I walked back, we were going to empty the groceries out of the trunk. She screamed and [I] hurriedly got out there as fast as I could go.”

According to the police report, her daughter told police she did not feel like she struck her head and never lost consciousness.

Her neighbors, though, were worried when they saw the scene.

“I just walked to my front windows and there were all these police cars parked every which direction,” Vickie Campbell said. “One of the detectives came up and asked me if I had a security camera.”

She didn’t, but the neighbor next door did.

Police shared the video on Facebook it helped them find the two suspected culprits.

“One of our afternoon shift supervisors had viewed the video several times and received a call from another citizen who had said they had seen the video on social media and seen the two juveniles,” Maj. Bradley Rule with Del City Police Department said.

They were taken into custody and will be facing aggravated assault charges.
