OKLAHOMA CITY – Authorities are investigating a fatal hit-and-run after a body was found in the middle of a  metro street.

Just before 5 a.m. on Friday, police were called to the area of S.E. 89th St. and Shields Blvd. after a witness said someone was lying in the street.

When officers arrived, they found the victim’s body.

Authorities say the victim is 22-year-old Alexandra Ayala.

However, investigators believe she was struck by a 2007 to 2009 Mazda CX 7 that was heading eastbound on S.E. 89th St.

Authorities say the vehicle suffered damage to its left headlight.

Officials shut down the area of S.E. 89th St. between I-35 and Shields Blvd. to investigate.

Shortly after 8 a.m., the road was opened.

Oklahoma City police released surveillance video from a nearby business of the alleged suspect’s vehicle.
