OKLAHOMA CITY – A 21-year-old man was arrested after police said he fired more than 25 rounds into a northeast Oklahoma City house overnight.
Around midnight, bullets started flying into a home near N.E. 21st and Miramar.
Dial Taylor was shot in the back while he was sleeping inside the home.
“Woke up scared, nervous, shaken up, nervous, didn’t know what was going on,” Taylor told KFOR crews. “Something hit me in the back. I felt something stinging me. I was guessing it was a piece of glass, but it was that bullet.”
Taylor was transported to a local hospital for his injury, but doctors didn’t remove the bullet.
He said doctors are waiting for the bullet to get closer to the surface before they remove it.
“We need to move. I need to get out of this neighborhood, out of this area, everything,” Taylor said. “I’m scared.”
Shortly after the shooting, police arrested 21-year-old Deron Bullock for the shooting.
“Saw the suspect coming out of a wooded area and get into a car. Obviously, they stopped that car immediately,” said MSgt. Gary Knight, Oklahoma City Police Department.
Bullock was arrested on one count of assault with a deadly weapon.
Taylor said he doesn’t know Bullock and doesn’t know why his house was targeted.
For now, his bullet wound isn’t stopping him from his responsibilities.
“I got a job interview that I’m trying to go to,” Taylor said.
Taylor said he just wants answers.
“I want to know why he did it. I want to at least know that much, because I could’ve died, and I feel like it’s not over with. I want to know what the deal is, what’s going on,” Taylor said.
There was a similar shooting a mile and half from this shooting on Monday.
Sixteen were fired at a victim in a car near N.E. 31st and Prospect.
The victim in that shooting also survived, but police said the gunman is still on the run.
Police don’t believe the shootings are connected.
