UPDATE: Pet pictures sent to cheer up teen battling cancer taken down by Facebook

UPDATE: As a Facebook page was going viral for a teen with cancer, it suddenly disappeared on Monday evening.

According to KSDK, a Facebook user posted pictures of a “dead roasted dog” on the page.

After the picture was posted, several users reported the photo and Facebook took down the whole page.

Anthony’s mother, Kristen Lyons, told KSDK that Facebook emailed the family and are working to resolve the issue.

PHOENIX, Ariz. – Pet owners from across the country are sharing their photos and stories of their furry friends to help a boy fighting for his life.

While battling acute lymphoblastic leukemia, it can be tough to find things that make you smile.

Anthony Lyons, who just turned 16-years-old, has been battling leukemia for almost a year after becoming ill while vacationing in Oregon.

Doctors expect him to have to go through three years of chemotherapy before the cancer is gone from his body.

While going through treatment each week can be painful, Anthony has found a little joy in a simple visit.

Family members say his day is always brightened when he is visited by therapy dogs.

Unfortunately, that can’t happen every day for every single patient.

So, a family friend has come up with an online attempt at pet therapy.

They created a Facebook group, where people from across the country can share pictures of their pets to help cheer up Anthony while he goes through treatment.

So far, several thousand pictures have been posted to the group.
