SAYRE, Okla. – An Oklahoma teacher is being charged with a felony after authorities say he admitted to inappropriately touching a student.
Authorities say 69-year-old William Potter II has been charged with one felony count of sexual battery.
According to the affidavit, Potter intentionally touched a female student in a “lewd and lascivious manner.”
Officials say leaders at Sayre High School called police after a student claimed Potter had made physical advances toward her.
According to the affidavit, Potter admitted to telling a student that he “liked her breasts.”
The next day, he claimed the student asked him if he wanted to touch her.
He admitted to touching her chest three times.
The student told officers that Potter had continually complemented her throughout the year, along with giving her the answer key to assignments.
She claimed she was asking Potter for help when he shut the door behind her and handed her the answer key.
Then, she said he put his hand between her hoodie and her shirt.
According to the report, she said, “Someone is going to see you.”
However, Potter told her the door was locked.
That’s when the student claimed Potter put his hand between her breast and her bra.
He allegedly told the girl he was a “horny old man” and he could “have a good time with her if they had more time.”
The student claims Potter told her that he would “make a deal with her if she would make a deal with him.”
If convicted, Potter could face up to 10 years in prison.
