MCALESTER, Okla. – A high school football player has been charged with four counts of first-degree rape.
Last week, authorities say 18-year-old Joshua Andrew Peckio was charged with four counts of first-degree rape for allegedly having sex with a 13-year-old girl.
The alleged crime was reported to police in November and charges were just filed in the case.
Under Oklahoma law, a minor who is under the age of 16-years-old is unable to give consent to engage in sexual conduct.
Prosecutors may charge offenders who have sex with a minor under the age of 14-years-old with first-degree rape.
Those who have sex with a minor under 16-years-old may be charged with second-degree rape.
If convicted of the crime, Peckio faces up to 60 yeas in prison.
He was a starting lineman for McAlester High School.
