OKLAHOMA– Oklahoma County deputies have many responsibilities, but delivering a baby isn’t normally one of them. Deputies recently helped deliver a baby on the side of the road near SE. 29th and Triple X.

Bob Moore chopper 4 was over the scene when three Oklahoma County deputies helped deliver a baby girl. The mother was being driven to the hospital when she realized the baby just couldn’t wait any longer.

Sgt. John Rose and Deputy John Albert got to the scene before medics, and delivered the baby with the help of the pregnant woman’s relative. Here’s more from the 911 call:

Caller: “Push, push, push.”

Deputy: “Come on keep on pushing.”

Caller: “I can see the head.”

Deputy “Here she comes, here she comes.”

The woman screamed most of the call. At one point, the umbilical cord was wrapped around the baby’s neck, but they were able to fix the complication and deliver a healthy baby girl.

The family wanted to remain anonymous, but NewsChannel 4 was told the mom and baby girl are doing well.
