OKLAHOMA CITY – An Oklahoma City woman is in jail after allegedly being involved in a bizarre scuffle that left one man dead.
Wednesday morning, a motel and a busy breakfast stop became connected by a crime scene.
It started with a call for help from Jimmy’s Egg, along N.W. 39th St.
“When officers arrived at Jimmy’s Egg, they found one individual suffering from trauma. We are not noting the type of trauma that the individual suffered,” said Major Dexter Nelson, with the Oklahoma City Police Department. “We don’t know if this individual was shot, stabbed or beaten. We are still trying to determine.”
That victim, later identified as 27-year-old Michael Bergeron, was taken to the hospital for treatment, but then the case took a bizarre turn.
Officers went next door to the Hospitality Inn, where they found two more people who were allegedly involved in the altercation.
Charles Buchanan, 46, was pronounced dead at the scene and Sarah Buchanan, 51, was taken to the hospital for minor injuries.
Police say there are a total of three crime scenes to investigate.
“The scene where the man was found at the Jimmy’s Egg. There’s a blood trail that leads to this motel and following that blood trail, into the lobby or the common area in the middle. Then we have another scene where it looks like this might have transpired, but they are all connected by blood trail,” said Nelson.
Investigators later determined that Charles Buchanan died while involved in a scuffle with two other people, Bergeron and Sarah Buchanan.
During the altercation, police believe Bergeron was attacked and injured by Sarah Buchanan.
Bergeron was transported to the hospital where he was treated for his injuries.
Officials say he is expected to survive.
Sarah Buchanan was also treated at a local hospital for minor injuries.
She was then released to the Homicide Unit and booked into the Oklahoma County Jail on one count of assault with a deadly weapon for attacking Bergeron.
At this time, no one has been arrested for Charles Buchanan’s death.
The State Medical Examiner’s office is working to determine his cause and manner of death.
For now, investigators continue looking for more pieces to this puzzle.
