OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma authorities discovered 55 pounds of cocaine during a recent traffic stop.
An Oklahoma County Sheriff’s Deputy pulled over a pickup truck after he saw the driver make an unsafe lane change on I-35 near N.E. 122nd St.
Officials say the driver, 46-year-old Rafael Armando Rocha, gave the deputy permission to search his truck.
“The deputy noticed on the rear side floor there was a large suitcase,” said Mark Myers with the Oklahoma County Sheriff’s Office. “When he opened up that suitcase he saw several bundles.”
Inside of the bundles, the deputy found 55 pounds of cocaine.
Officials say the drugs are worth around 2.2 million dollars.
“It’s a pretty good size,” said Myers. “That’s a lot of dangerous drugs that are off the street now.”
Rocha was booked into the Oklahoma County Jail on a complaint of Trafficking cocaine base.
He has since posted bond and been released from jail.
