OKLAHOMA CITY – An Oklahoma City Police officer accused of illegally pawning city issued equipment turned himself in to his peers Monday.

Sergeant Travis Smith was booked into the Oklahoma County jail, but posted bond two hours later.

The 14 year veteran of the Oklahoma City Police Department is accused of pawning a gas mask, a police radio, riot gear and a ballistic vest.

Smith was placed on paid administrative leave in November of 2014 when the department started a criminal investigation.

Officials say the officer remains on paid leave while the case is investigated.
