KAY COUNTY, Okla. – Authorities are searching for a member of a country rock band, after he and a friend disappeared while on a hunting trip on an Oklahoma lake.
According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, troopers began searching for 29-year-old Craig Strickland and 22-year-old Chase Morland, after the pair did not return from a duck hunting trip on Kaw Lake.
On Sunday night, a capsized boat was discovered, but the hunters were nowhere to be found.
Search efforts had to be delayed because of ice accumulating on boat ramps.
Strickland’s father, Randy, said troopers discovered the family’s dog but had not found the men.
Strickland is the lead singer for the band Backroad Anthem.
On Monday afternoon, the band said that Morland’s body had been found.
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol said they found Morland’s body at Kaw Lake.
However, rescuers are still searching for Strickland.
Troopers said no personal flotation devices were in use, and the boat has not been recovered from the lake.
At this point, search efforts for Stickland are being stopped for the day due to the weather.
Rescuers will pick up the search Tuesday.
