OKLAHOMA CITY – Authorities are investigating a lab worker who does contract work with the Oklahoma County drug court program.
John Barfield, 24, of Newalla, was arrested this week and is accused of falsifying lab results.
He was arrested on 13 counts of unlawful use of a computer to obtain money and false preparation of exhibits as evidence.
Authorities said they believe Barfield used his cell phone to arrange deals where he falsified lab samples.
He worked for CRG Laboratories in Oklahoma City.
Court documents state Barfield was paid by a confidential informant to help falsify evidence and used his cell phone to coordinate it.
“What it does is put into question the entire drug court program and the reliability of the people that they’ve contracted with which is a devastation to the Oklahoma County justice system who relies heavily on the Oklahoma Drug Court,” Legal Analyst Jacqui Ford said.
Barfield bonded out of jail.
The Oklahoma County District Attorney’s Office said they expect to file charges next week.
