Update Nov. 2: The Medical Examiner ruled Carol Colbert’s death as a homicide with the probable cause of death being asphyxiation.
The Ada Police Department Detective Division is continuing to investigate her death.
ADA, Okla. — There is new information in mysterious death of an Ada woman.
In early September, 56-year-old Carol Colbert was found dead in her home on W. 7th St. She had duct tape covering her nose and mouth.
Now, investigators tell us they are looking for a man named Ronaldo Seals.
“When she was originally found, they had talked to several people that had been with her, or lived near her in the days up to the death, and he was just one of the people that was on the list,” Lisa Bratcher, with the Ada Police Department, said.
Officers say they want to talk with Seals, 50, about Carol. However, they have not been able to find him.
There are still many unanswered questions about the death of Carol.
Charlie Brown was her landlord, but more than that, he was a friend.
“She was always happy and chipper, no matter what the situation was,” Brown said.
On Thursday, he stepped inside her home for the first time since her death.
“Sadness is in the air, but there’s a tranquil feeling in there that I really believe she was saved and she’s in Heaven right now stepping on the gold streets,” Brown said.
Police are still calling Carol’s death suspicious. They say she died from asphyxiation and are still working to figure out if foul play was involved.
Many who knew Carol say they have no doubt she was murdered.
“I can’t see myself putting a piece of duct tape over my mouth and laying there suffocating myself. Suspicious is… I think it’s far fetched,” Brown said
Friends and family hope locating Seals could mean answers.
Police say if you see him, do not approach him. Instead, call them immediately.
Court records show that Seals has been in trouble with the law before, but we did not find that he has been accused of any violent crimes.
He does have a current arrest warrant out of Ada for not paying court fines.
We are still awaiting Carol’s autopsy report from the Medical Examiner’s Office.
