CALUMET, Okla. — There is new information involving a horrendous case of child abuse.
Last year a massive search was launched for Matthew Mallory who was accused of taking off with his niece.
Authorities said he had been forcing his niece to have sexual relations with him.
Now there is a new twist in the case. Authorities have arrested the young victim’s mother as well.
This all came to light last year when authorities said Mallory got his young niece pregnant and then ran away with the girl to Texas.
Authorities caught him and he recently pleaded guilty.
Wednesday authorities arrested the girl’s mother for allegedly allowing the abuse to take place.
“Now we’re focusing on the mother of the victim since she knew or believed that there was child sexual abuse going on in the home in which she was sharing with a lifetime registered sex offender,” OSBI spokeswoman Jessica Brown said.
That mother is 35-year-old Angela Tuszynski.
Canadian County authorities picked her up at her Calumet home.
Tuszinksi had moved in with Mallory.
Authorities said during that time he abused her daughter, his niece, from the age of nine to 14.
At 14 she became pregnant and gave birth to Mallory’s child.
Investigators said Tuszinksi knew or should have known what was going on between her daughter and Mallory.
“She knew he had just gotten out of prison for a child sexual abuse case and he was now a lifetime registered sex offender but she put her daughter in that position,” Brown said. “Then her daughter was sleeping in the same bed as Matthew Mallory while the victim’s mother was sleeping on the couch in the living room.”
Authorities said this type of abuse is much too prevelant.
“I believe it’s getting worse,” Canadian County Sheriff Randall Edwards said. “I don’t remember in my lifetime as an adult or a law enforcement officer ever seeing as much abuse as we see today.”
“She knew or believed she knew what was going on and we’re going to make her answer for that,” Brown said.
Mallory pleaded guilty to several counts of child abuse and is now serving four consecutive life sentences in prison.
Tuszynski was charged with one count of enabling child sexual abuse.
