OKLAHOMA CITY- A pair of thieves targeting homes and businesses had dozens of victims, and now dozens of new charges.
Police say Ryan Darnell and his girlfriend Chiemi Oshiro had a crime spree that went on for months.
“The male was breaking into homes, trailers, storage units, taking the things back she was pawning a lot of it or using stolen credit cards,” said Gary Knight, Oklahoma City Police Department.
Police say time and time again they got away with it.
“Over 20 homes were burglarized, storage units, and automobiles,” said Knight.
Edward Parker says his home was hit in May.
“It was unbelievable how many things were missing, backpacking, sporting goods equipment, even under armor running tights, tee shirts. The list goes on and on and on,” said Edward Parker.
He says, at first, he didn`t notice anything was missing.
“No, because they left my wife`s laptop and my wife`s tablet alone,” he said.
Parker says his home wasn’t ransacked.
It’s one of the reasons it was hard for him to realize exactly what was taken.
“I even noticed that a CamelBak that was gone too. It`s the gift that keeps on giving,” he said.
Police say the charges against Darnell and Oshiro continue to pile up.
Several new charges were added a few days ago.
There are now more than 40 charges, including burglary, concealing stolen property, eluding a police officer, possession of a controlled substance, and gun charges.
“We have cases that are unsolved but they fit the same M.O. So if investigators can link the information that is another case that`s solved,” said Knight.
As the charges against the two continue to grow Darnell’s mother told me all she can do is pray for her son.
“My son is a good person. He would never hurt anyone. My son has problems with drugs. He doesn`t need to go to jail for 30 years. He just needs some help.”
Darnel is still in jail on a $300,000 bond.
His girlfriend Oshiro is out on a nearly $100,000 bond.
