UPDATE: Ardmore man charged with kidnapping and raping 7-year-old girl

ARDMORE, Okla. — An Ardmore man is charged with a shocking kidnapping and rape of a 7-year-old girl.

Prosecutors say the little girl was snatched by a neighbor who slipped in through the family’s front door.

On Wednesday the suspect appeared in court after the district attorney filed formal charges. The suspect now faces seven felonies charges.

Those charges include kidnapping, lewd acts with a child and rape against two different young girls.

“I hope he rots in prison for the rest of his life,” said the victim’s mother.

Watching Brendon Marusak appear via video before a Carter County judge is nauseating for the mother of the two little girls he allegedly molested.

“It’s been a complete nightmare. I’m in total shock,” said the mother.

Prosecutors say the suspect broke into the victims apartment through the front door overnight on Monday while the family slept. The suspect and victims live in the same complex.

Inside the victim’s apartment, the suspect allegedly sexually assaulted a six-year-old girl then stole her seven-year-old sister and brought her back to his apartment, warning the six-year-old not to talk.

“She told us she was too afraid to tell us because he said he would come after her,” said the mother.

After a brief search police found the seven-year-old girl being held captive inside the suspect’s apartment where she had allegedly been raped.

“It’s just unreal the things he done to her,” said the mother.

In court the accused attacker denied knowing the family and asked to be evaluated for mental illness. That idea didn’t sit well with the victims parents.

“I mean obviously he has some mental problems, but I think he’s trying to pull the mental thing just trying to get off,” said the mother.

The suspect is being held on $750,000 bond.

If he somehow is able to post that bond, he would have to wear a GPS ankle monitor.
