Jury selection begins for Luther man accused of killing his mother

OKLAHOMA CITY – Jury selection began on Monday in the trial of a Luther man, who is accused of killing his mother.

In May of 2013, Oklahoma County Sheriff’s deputies found Jill Sides body after she had been shot in the head.

Her husband, Ottie Sides, was also shot, but he survived his injuries.

At the scene, deputies arrested Jill Sides’ son, Matthew Strickland.

Authorities say there was some sort of altercation which led to a shootout between Strickland, his mother and Ottie Sides.

On Monday, prosecutors and public defenders worked to choose 12 jurors who will decide Strickland’s fate.

The attorneys for both sides expect the trial to begin on Tuesday.
