OKLAHOMA CITY – Authorities are investigating after an officer-involved shooting in southeast Oklahoma City.

Police say around 4 a.m. Thursday, they tried to pull over a stolen vehicle for traffic violations near SE 23rd and Central.

The driver would not pull over and that’s when a pursuit started.

According to police, it ended in front of Wheeler Elementary, near SE 25th and Durland, where officers noticed the suspect had a gun.

Officials say they commanded the suspect to drop it but he wouldn’t.

That’s when two officers fired their weapons, hitting him.

The suspect, whose name has not yet been released, is expected to survive.

School officials say classes for students at Wheeler Elementary are canceled for Thursday, January 10, due to the police investigation.

Teachers from Wheeler Elementary should report to the library at Capitol Hill High School.
