OKLAHOMA CITY – A lucky horse put on quite a performance at an Oklahoma City race track.
Stormtoremember was one of several horses that were in the line of fire on May 20, 2013 as tornadoes headed straight for his training facility.
“He was at Celestial Acres training center outside of Moore, one of the first areas where the tornado hit,” said Reza Aryan, Stormtoremember’s owner. “Luckily, he was in a barn that had roof damage but structurally was still standing. There was nothing left of the other barns there where many horses were lost.”
On Wednesday, Stormtoremember stole the spotlight at Remington Park.
The 4-year-old Oklahoma-bred gelding crossed the finish line six lengths ahead of Lion of Lone Oak, the favorite to win the race.
It was just the second start of his career.
Stormtoremember is now training at Remington Park.
