NORMAN, Okla. (KFOR) — A man at the center of a three-hour high-speed chase that spanned several metro cities was sentenced to twenty years behind bars. “Go big or go home,” Brenton Hager said as he exited a Cleveland County courtroom on Monday. The only problem with that for 27-year-old Brenton Hager is he’s not going home. “He can go big, but he’s going to go to prison,” Greg Mashburn, the Cleveland County District Attorney, said. Hager was sentenced to twenty years behind bars for three felony charges, including assault with a dangerous weapon and obstructing an officer, and one year for four misdemeanors, to be served concurrently. “This being such a dangerous activity, we felt that that was an appropriate resolution to this case,” Mashburn said. If Hager’s name rings a bell, that’s because he was at the center of a wild, high-speed pursuit back in November of 2017. He documented a portion of it on Facebook Live.

“Hey man, I’m in a high-speed chase. Ya, I’m in a high-speed chase, bro,” Hager is heard saying on Facebook Live. Hager led authorities through several metro cities, zipping through fields and crashing into a pond. After that, he led them on a foot pursuit until he was eventually tased. Then after bonding out of jail, Hager landed himself back behind bars again about a month later following a carjacking, adding more possible charges to his list of prior convictions. “His prior felonies were non-violent. So, he’s just a non-violent offender who then takes the next step and the progression of his criminality and then assaults an officer and leads him on a high-speed chase,” Mashburn said. Hager will be back in court, this time in Oklahoma County, for that stolen vehicle charge on January 8th at 9 a.m.
