High-speed chase ends with crash, arrest of wanted Oklahoma man

PIEDMONT, Okla.  – A man is in jail after taking police on a car chase through a rural area near Piedmont, Okla.

It ended with the driver crashing his car into a tree.

It happened around 12:30 a.m. Tuesday near Ash Avenue and Piedmont Road after police say they got a call tipping them off about this driver.

The original call to police was from a woman claiming to be the driver’s ex-girlfriend.

Investigators say the woman was following her ex’s truck and told police he was a suicidal driver.

Police ran a background check on the man and found out there was a felony warrant for his arrest for domestic violence.

Officers found the driver near May and 178th Street, where he led them on a short high-speed chase to Piedmont near Ash Ave. and Piedmont Rd.

The driver reached speeds of 90 mph before crashing.
