ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – A New Mexico man is behind bars after an altercation was caught on cell phone video.

“I told you to leave me the **** alone,” Xavier Amaya is heard on the video.

The video was captured Saturday at an Albuquerque park. Police say Amaya pointed a gun at his girlfriend and then shoved her.

Jenny Wonder recorded the video, saying she does not know the man or the woman, but was trying to enjoy a fun day at the park.

“He kind of flies in from the parking lot with two girls. There’s a big fight going on, and he immediately got the gun out in the girl’s face,” she told KOAT.

At some point, the woman was pistol whipped.

While recording, Wonder told the man that she would send the video to the police.

Once the man left, Wonder says she started helping the woman, who was bleeding after being pistol whipped.

Hours later, police arrested Amaya for domestic violence and aggravated assault and battery.

“I really like to think that some of the social media and, like, blasting that video, whatever, maybe sped that up,” Wonder said.
