STILLWATER, Okla. – Wednesday, Payne County District Attorney, Tom Lee filed charges against an OSU fraternity member for the use of a firearm while hazing.
Monday, Alpha Gamma Rho member 22-year-old, Owen Hossack was charged with two counts of pointing a firearm at an individual with the intent to threaten.
It was a scary ride for two freshmen at OSU on their way to an Alpha Gamma Rho initiation bonfire, when an upperclassman asked if they would take a bullet for their brother
Now that fraternity member is facing two felony counts of pointing a firearm at another, with intent to threaten.
On August 16, Tanner McColl and Colton Demuth, two Alpha Gamma Rho hopefuls, left their fraternity house with upperclassmen who told them they were on their way to an initiation bonfire.
According to court documents the freshman said the night started with the upperclassmen just “yelling at them about what it means to be an AGR,” but quickly turned dangerous when 22-year-old Owen Hossack allegedly pointed a loaded gun to both of their heads asking them each if they “would take a bullet for their brother.”
The two freshmen told OSU police that 10 seconds after Hossack removed the gun from one of their necks they “saw a flash come from the end of the gun and saw the passenger’s side rear window explode.”
Monday Hossack did not have anything to say in court, but he told police he was planning to shoot out the back window and was doing it to scare the pledges.
OSU student Kyle Hoxie says the AGR’s are well respected.
Hoxie says, “They’re one of the top fraternities on campus.”
Hoxie was shocked to hear about the allegations and thinks everyone else on campus would be too.
“A firearm in general kind of surprises me,” says Hoxie. “But hazing with it, I couldn’t even fathom that happening here on campus.”
OSU issued the following statement:
Oklahoma State University takes seriously any charges dealing with weapons being used improperly by our students and any allegation of hazing. The university is cooperating with the investigation and subsequent prosecution and supports the disciplinary action levied against the student and fraternity through the OSU student conduct process.
At the first of each year every new member of each fraternity and sorority is required to go through anti-hazing education.

On August 16, an out-of-house member brought a firearm to a chapter activity and into the chapter house which violated the fraternity and OSU’s rules and standards of acceptable conduct. A report was filed with the campus police department. The individual’s actions were in no way encouraged or condoned by the fraternity and the individual was immediately prohibited from participating in any fraternity related activity and has been expelled. Members of the fraternity are cooperating fully with campus officials and have no further comment due to the ongoing nature of the investigation.
