OKLAHOMA CITY — Former Oklahoma City police officer Daniel Holtzclaw has granted his first post-conviction interview to KFOR’s Ali Meyer.
Last year, Holtzclaw was convicted on 18 criminal counts of the rape and sexual assault of eight victims.
The case grabbed national headlines after 13 Oklahoma City women accused the officer of sexual attacks while on duty.
Holtzclaw tells Meyer he thought the jury would find him innocent.
Instead, the Oklahoma County jury put Holtzclaw away for the rest of his life.
During the trial, his legal team said he was innocent.
They argued in court that the accusers made up stories to get back at a system that has discounted them for years.
Daniel Holtzclaw is being held is a secret location.
He is in Oklahoma Department of Corrections custody, but might not even be held in Oklahoma.
Holtzclaw spoke with NewsChannel 4 over the phone because he said he wanted the world to hear his side.
Ali Meyer is the only Oklahoma City reporter to get an interview with Daniel Holtzclaw.
