FEMA awards nearly $7 million in grants for rebuilding Oklahoma schools after tornadoes

MOORE, Okla. –  Nearly a year-and-a-half after tornadoes ripped through central Oklahoma, many families and businesses are still recovering.

Recently, the Oklahoma Department of Emergency Management was awarded nearly $7 million in grants from FEMA.

The public assistance grants will help several schools in the area that were damaged or destroyed by the tornadoes.

In El Reno, nearly $3.5 million will be used to rebuild several facilities on the Canadian Valley Technology Center.

Also, more than $3.3 million has been awarded as reimbursement to the Moore Public School District for the construction of Briarwood Elementary, Plaza Towers Elementary and Highland East Junior High School.
