DUNCAN, Okla. — Authorities in Stephens County, including Duncan, busted a huge drug ring. Several drugs were involved in the sting including steroids.
The narcotics sweep has been six months in the making.
“Bright and early this morning, before the sun ever came up, the district attorney’s office zeroed in a six month long drug investigation that netted dozens of arrests.”
The pictures canvas the wall of the DA’s task force. It was a domino-like effect and the list of suspected criminals keeps growing.
“The six month long investigation resulted in 25 arrest warrants and one search warrant being issued,” Assistant District Attorney, Leah Edwards, says. “With this type of investigation often one target or one defendant will lead to another.”
And it did; the 25 arrest warrants soon turned into much more; spanning across Stephens County with the main focus in the Duncan area.
“The arrests warrants that were served this morning also resulted in the arrest of seven other people who were arrested based on probable cause. The sweeps also lead to the attaching of an additional search warrant.”
18 people have been arrested so far. It was a sprawling narcotics ring involving a range of illegal drugs.
Each of them was involving the sale of narcotics. Those narcotics range from methamphetamine to marijuana prescription narcotics and even steroids.
In addition to a rainbow of drugs, firearms and thousands of dollars in cash was seized as well.
More arrests are expected. Those behind bars so far are facing felony charges this evening.
