OKLAHOMA CITY – One man is behind bars after allegedly leaving the scene of an accident and firing a gun from a moving vehicle.
Officers were called to the area of N.E. 19th St. and N. Coltrane Rd. in reference to a car accident.
They soon learned that the accident had turned into a hit-and-run and shots fired call.
The victim told police a red and gray truck was changing lanes and weaving in and out of traffic.
The police report claims the truck tried to pass the victim’s car and then squeezed in between two vehicles, side-swiping the front left quarter panel of the victim’s vehicle.
The victim then followed the suspect on N.E. 23rd St. and N. Coltrane Rd.
According to the police affidavit, as the victim followed the truck, the suspect pulled out a gun and started shooting it into the air.
At that point, the victim pulled over to make sure that his family was not put in danger.
Officers say they found several bullet casings along the street.
Shortly after authorities began the investigation, they received a 911 call from a man claiming he was being followed by another vehicle that side-swiped him and was preventing him from going to the emergency room.
The man told dispatchers the car wasn’t following him any more and that he was at the hospital.
In the report, officers claim the suspect, 30-year-old James Bunyan Greenhoward, was being uncooperative and was headed back to his home.
Authorities took pictures of Greenhoward’s truck and soon found a pistol inside the vehicle.
Officers also allegedly found an empty magazine in his pocket.
Greenhoward was arrested and charged with discharging a firearm from a moving vehicle and leaving the scene of the accident.
